Let this be the first prediction on the known Internet that one day soon, the technology will exist to support LAARRPING (Live Action Augmented Reality Role Playing).
I guess it could already be going on in rudimentary form with smart phones – but with advances in live video replacement / deletion of objects (see video below) and the growing Augmented Reality capabilities of smart phones, I predict we’re swiftly approaching a total immersion, real world gaming experience.

Just imagine it – you put on some video goggles and run around like an idiot, swatting your bluetooth foam sword at your friends in the woods…
To an observer, it appears to be a stupid larp in progress – but to you… You’re fighting fearsome knights, fire spewing trolls and rabid unicorns – all in blisteringly sharp HD, and all without a lick of imagination.
I don’t know how I feel about this new tech, but that’s irrelevant anyway. It’s coming, and I called it.
And if I’m not the first person to predict it I don’t care – a quick google search suggests I’m the first to coin the term LAARRPING, and that’s good enough for me.
